Ok, the selling agent would most likely get 2.25% or 45% of the whole percentage. The listing agent would get 2.75%.

Now understand, that the broker’s takes a cut of each. So if you were a top producer you might get 75% of 2.75% as the listing agent, out of that comes all the expense of marketing the property, all your health insurance, and income taxes and personal living expenses.

There is no "generally" because each agent will negotiate with their broker to determine what their split will be. The splits are usually 4 ways. Between Broker and broker and then between each agent and each broker. So there is nothing general about this. As you can see. The broker is more flexible with more experienced agents. So they may expect a slightly bigger piece of the pie. Remember too that there are costs involved in the process so one side may "take" more to cover the marketing costs and offer less to the side bringing the buyer. On the other hand if the seller needs to get the house sold quickly sometimes it works backwards and they offer more to the side bringing the buyer-Still no "generally" everyone does business a bit differently. Good luck
